I deceided to measure my computers power consumption as well as on my old system since I got power usage meter now.

I got a Core2 E6400 system with a P5B deluxe board, 2GB RAM, 4 harddisks, DVD drive, Audigy4 and a nvidia 7600GT silent.

My old system is a A64 3000+ with 1GB ram, one DVD drive, one harddisk, a nvidia 6800LE running on a Asus matx board.

To my suprise the E6400 system used a lot more than I thought.

I tested both systems in startup / bios mode since my old system doesn't have an OS running.

The Core2 E6400 system used a total of 159W. Then I Removed several components one by one finding out that in idle mode:
A harddisk uses 9 to 10 W, the 7600GT card uses 29,5W, the Audigy4 uses 4W, the DVD player around 4W, and the Fans around 0.7W each.

The A64 system used a total of 91W, where idling around the 6800LE used 21W.
If I subtract the usage of the components except the motherboard, memory and CPU the Core2 E6400 system use 85.5W while the A64 3000+ system uses 57W.

When I booted my Core2 E6400 system (win XP) and saw that in idle mode it uses 135W. Then I stress tested with prime95 (50% load) and the usage went up to 162W. Then I added a decoding job (40% load, making a total of 90% load) and the usage ended up at 168W.
During a 3Dmark05 test I measured a peak of 178W.

Why did I do this? Well, I'm configuring a low power usage PC at the moment serving as a media center / server. Clearly the E6400 doesn't win the game on this. On the other hand I don't know how much more the P5B deluxe board uses against the Asus matx board in the old system.

This is just an amazing video. If european soccer hooligans were doing this instead of bashing each other the world would be a bit better place.

Vanaf de 22e zijn we 4 dagen naar Brugge geweest met de hondjes. We sliepen in een B&B op het Colletijnenhof, waar tot 1990 nog een klooster stond en nu schattige huisjes. De gastvrouw Maria was een schat van een mens en ondanks dat ze niets wist van de komst van onze 3 blaffers was alles ok en hebben we genoten van 4 dagen cultuur, architectuur en cafeetjes.
Er liepen er wel ontzettend veel toeristen rond maar iets buiten het "centrum" rond de grote kerken was het meteen rustig.

Er viel ons wel iets op. Ten eerste de terrechte adoratie voor ons hondje "Kip" (zie foto hieronder)

Voor wie Kip niet kent hieronder een foto waar Kip in de Brugse park Minnewater aan het barfen is met een stuk eendennek.

Ten tweede viel de fascinatie van het mannelijke geslachtsorgaan en alles wat daarmee samenhangt op. Zie de onderstaande foto's.

Kortom we hebben er ons prima vermaakt. Ah ja, Als je er bent breng eens een bezoek aan brouwerij de halve maan op de Walplein. De Brugse Zot is er heerlijk

Hieperdepiep! Jan is 34 jaar geworden! Nieuwe ronde, nieuwe kansen!

Gisteravond mijn kado gekregen van Remke. Iets wat ik echt niet verwacht had.
Een schietles bij schietsportvereniging Target.
Het was heel gezellig en ontspannend. Remke vergeleek het ontspannende werking zelfs met het tekenen van Mandala's.
Ik had het niet verwacht omdat Remke mijn luchtbuks die ooit van mijn opa is geweest al eng vind / vond.
Maar na een paar schoten bij Target begon ze er de lol er van in te zien.
Vandaag lekker relaxen in ieder geval en over een paar dagen richting Brugge met de blaffers!
